Title
Preserving a unique archive for long-term solar variability studies
Abstract
The McIntosh Archive consists of hand-drawn solar Carrington maps created by Patrick McIntosh from 1964 to 2009, using H, He 10830 angstrom, and photospheric magnetic measurements to trace polarity inversion lines, filaments, sunspots, and plage and coronal holes, yielding a unique 45year record of the evolution of the solar magnetic field. We discuss our efforts to preserve and digitize this archive.
