Non-LTE Model Atmospheres for B and O Stars
This paper shows that very significant differences exist between the LTE and non-LTE models and the observable quantities predicted by these two sets of models. A significant improvement in the fit to observed properties of 0 stars is given by the non-LTE models; a more detailed grid of somewhat better models should allow even further refinements of the fit between observations and computations. The present models represent a great improvement over those now available in the literature for B stars, and a critical analysis of the observable effects of departures from LTE is now possible over much of this important spectral class. Finally, one of the most important uses of the tabulated models will be for detailed statistical-equilibrium analyses for astrophysically important light-ion spectra.
